Public Administration and Policy is working with Athens Community Council on Aging (ACCA) for the month of February. ACCA is a great organization whose mission is to promote a lifetime of wellness through engagement, advocacy, education, and support. Throughout its 50-year history, Athens Community Council on Aging has grown to a private, non-profit organization providing 14 aging service programs to 25 counties in Georgia. ACCA’s history of successful program administration and innovative service delivery has made it one of the leading agencies of its type in the Southeast.

There are two great ways we can volunteer with ACCA this month:

Volunteer for GeorgiaCares!

This volunteer-based program provides free, unbiased, and factual information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers with health and drug plans. GeorgiaCares helps people with Medicare understand their benefits, make informed decisions about health care options, and provide ways to protect themselves from Medicare fraud, error, and abuse. Learn more about GeorgiaCares here.

Volunteers will receive an in-depth training on all things Medicare to ensure they are providing accurate and up-to-date information. To learn more about this program and how you can get involved, please contact Jennifer Shaikun at (706) 549-4850 or [email protected].
