  • The Liberty Bell Project – Liberty Bell Project seeks a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support Founding Citizens Institute’s citizens training curriculum development and programming implementation for the inaugural class of Founding Citizens.
  • BSI – Provide intelligence information to BSI’s Global Intelligence Team, and write content related to foreign policy, global security and international trade.
  • 2025 Growth & Outreach Intern – Science for Georgia – Atlanta-based science advocacy organization that connects scientists and scientific achievements to the general public.
  • Athens-Oconee Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) – Athens-based Court Appointed Special Advocates; interns work with juveniles in the criminal justice system, whether in juvenile rehabilitation programs, foster care, or other legal venues.
  • Cottages of North Georgia – Sexual assault and children’s advocacy nonproft internship involved with grant-writing, fundraising, event planning, and general organizational administration.
  • Downtown Ministries – Homeless outreach in the form of food, as well as after-school programming for local youth.
  • Human Rights Measurement Initiative (HRMI) – Fully remote internship that tracks human rights data submitted from around the world.
  • Athens Area Community Foundation – Local organization that assists with grant-writing and fundraising for various local nonprofits.
  • Jeannette Rankin Foundation – Large nonprofit organization that advocates for the role of women in politics.
  • Project Safe Internship Opportunities – Local administrative internship with a nonprofit focused on support for victims of domestic abuse.

Applied History Certificate Internships

Undergraduates must apply here for the Applied History Certificate Program’s internships.

For the Applied History internship, HIST/POLS/INTL 5800, undergraduates can find an internship on their own or intern at one of the SPIA-sponsored internships listed above. Undergraduates can also intern at one of the two organizations below, which are especially eager to welcome Applied History students. (More information about the Applied History Certificate and the program’s application can be found here.)

  • Southern Alliance of Public Health Leadership (SAPHL) – Public Health Legislative Intern – Atlanta-based nonprofit that studies the history of public health efforts in the State of Georgia with the goal of improving public health at the state level.
  • Birds Georgia Centennial Intern – Atlanta-based 100-year-old nonprofit that advocates for bird habitat conservation; internship involves researching and compiling history of the organization for help with legislative efforts.
