Committed to excellence in public policy analysis

Established in 2016, the Survey Research Center (SRC) at the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs has become a leading voice in understanding the political landscape and public policy preferences in Georgia. With a strong focus on the state, our mission is to provide timely, non-partisan data about public perceptions of policy priorities and political attitudes of Georgia’s citizens.

Our primary objective is to offer insights into the sentiments and opinions of Georgia’s populace, ensuring that policymakers, stakeholders, and the public are well-informed. Our work is pivotal, especially during election seasons, where our election polling provides critical data on statewide contests, helping to shape the narrative and understanding of electoral dynamics in Georgia.

Services
+

The SRC conducts both live-interviewer surveys, as well as online polls. In addition to conducting its own statewide polls relating to Georgia politics and policy, the SRC also performs contract work for academic researchers, corporations, and non-profits. In conjunction with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government it performs work for state and local government entities. The SRC does not conduct surveys for political parties, candidates, political action committees, or campaigns.

Our clients include organizations such as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Association of Realtors, Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, Jackson EMC, Georgia Power, Georgia Watch, and Georgia Secretary of State.

Additionally, we conduct our own surveys related to Georgia politics and policy and make these findings publicly available. This transparency fosters an informed citizenry and aids in the democratic process by providing clear, unbiased data on public opinion.

Methodologies
+

The SRC utilizes a variety of methodologies to ensure comprehensive and accurate data collection. We conduct live-interviewer telephone surveys and online surveys, including text-to-web methods, to reach a broad and diverse audience. This multi-modal approach ensures that we capture a representative sample of Georgia’s population, providing reliable insights.

Impact
+

Student engagement is a cornerstone of our operations. Through courses like Survey Research Methods (POLS 4512R) and participation in survey research experiments conducted by the SRC, students gain hands-on experience in the field of survey research. This practical experience equips them with valuable skills and knowledge, preparing them for careers in public policy, research, and beyond.

The impact of our work extends beyond academia and into the broader media landscape. Our research has been cited by numerous prestigious media outlets, including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, New York Times, Politico, MSNBC, Fox News, The Hill, AP News, GPB, WSB, Axios, Politico, and Newsweek. These citations highlight the trust and credibility that our data commands within the media and the broader public discourse.
