Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Whit Buchanan was born in Birmingham, Alabama. In May of 2023, Whit graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Affairs and a Minor in Environmental Studies. During his time outside of class at Furman, Whit dedicated his time to improving student-faculty relations and general campus wellbeing. Whit served as President of the Interfraternity Council, Vice-President and Homecoming Coordinator of the Student Alumni Council, and a Representative of the Student Government Association. With the aspiration to build a career in public service, Whit enrolled at the University of Georgia to earn a Master of Public Administration. Through an accumulation of life experience and education, Whit recognizes the importance of dedicated public servants in our society. He aims to develop skills and knowledge during his time at the University of Georgia that help him be an effective and efficient agent of public service. Whit has gained career experience parallel to his education. Throughout his time as an undergraduate, Whit worked in the Furman University Office of Admission as both an office concierge and a campus ambassador. Additionally, in the Summer of 2022, Whit completed an internship with the Greenville, South Carolina-based non-profit Carolina Alliance for Innovation. Currently, Whit is serving as an intern to the City of Madison, Georgia.

Educational Experiences

In May of 2023, Whit graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Affairs and a Minor in Environmental Studies. Throughout the course of the Politics and International Affairs degree program, Whit focused his studies on public and foreign policy and political theory.
