Education

Bachelors of Arts | Rhodes College | 2022 | Economics and International Studies

As a Bonner Scholar, my undergraduate degree focused on leadership, service, and social justice. During my undergraduate years, I was challenged to connect my academic studies, personal beliefs, leadership skills, and service philosophy to real-life organizations and situations. Studying Economics and International Studies and participating in the Bonner Scholars community service and social-justice program have allowed me to see most policymakers and policies’ disconnect from on-the-ground life experience. My academic courses have given me a profound understanding of the political system and the analytical skills needed to be an effective leader. At the same time, the Bonner program helped me learn to be an empathetic, understanding leader who sees beyond policies. I learned that education policy goes beyond funding formulas and graduation rates. It affects all youth development and has a lasting impact on individuals and institutions. Education policy reform is possible, and more listening and compassion can improve the lives of all students.
