Ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the Dean of the School to bolster SPIA’s reputation with external constituencies, such as alumni, donors, prospective students, and citizens of the local, state, and global community.  They do this by assisting with events, participating in efforts to build philanthropic support, and promoting the School in their personal and professional networks. In serving as an ambassador, students gain a greater understanding of the School and its priorities and have access to exclusive opportunities to interact with notable alumni and donors throughout the year.

Grayson Abbott
Majors: Political Science; International Affairs

Grayson is a fourth-year student from Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in political science and international affairs, and is a member of the 9th cohort of the Applied Politics program. On campus, he has held positions in several clubs and served on the executive board of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity. His professional experience includes interning in a congressional office, on a presidential campaign, and as a legislative assistant for the Georgia Beverage Association. Following graduation, he hopes to find a position in government relations.

 

Emmanuella Akang

Emmanuella Akang is a third-year student originally from Warri, Nigeria. She moved to Georgia at the age of 10 and currently resides in Marietta. Emmanuella is majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Law, Philosophy, and Ethics. On campus, she is actively involved with The Red & Black newspaper, the Black Pre-Law Association, UGA Miracle, and several other organizations. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career in human rights law, with a focus on African countries. Emmanuella is honored to serve as a 2025–26 SPIA Ambassador and looks forward to further engaging with the SPIA community!

 

Sydney Alpers

I am a fourth-year student from Atlanta, Georgia, double majoring in Political Science and International Affairs, with a minor in International Human Rights and Security and a certificate in Sustainability. Currently, I am conducting research on disaster capitalism in the Global South through the GLOBIS Human Rights Lab. On campus, I also serve as the Director of Finance for the Alexander Hamilton Society. I absolutely love to travel and jump at any opportunity to explore new places! I’ve studied abroad in Germany for the previous two summers, taking courses on German environmentalism, film, art, and cultural history, which have only furthered my passion. In my free time, I enjoy making art, spending time with friends, and cooking. I am thrilled to serve and engage with the SPIA community as a 2025-26 ambassador!

 

Puneet Bajwa
Majors: Political Science; Criminal Justice

Puneet Bajwa is a fourth-year student from Cumming, Georgia double-majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science, on the Pre-Law Track. She has had previous experience working for a Real Estate Law Firm and as an intern for the District Attorney’s Office of Athens-Clarke County. In addition to being a SPIA Ambassador, Puneet will serve as an Advisor/Advocate for the University Judiciary. Puneet is also involved in Kappa Alpha Pi and was elected as the Standards Chair for the 2025-2026 Year. During her time in college, Puneet was a dancer for a South-Asian Dance Team, Classic City Bhangra, here at UGA. After graduation, Puneet plans to attend law school and pursue a career in Criminal Law. Puneet is very excited to serve as a SPIA Ambassador!

 

Kennedy Baker

Kennedy Baker is a fourth-year student from Cincinnati, Ohio, on the pre-law track, with a major in Political Science and two minors in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State and Law, Ethics, and Philosophy. She has also been selected as a student on the Dean’s list. As a pre-law student, Kennedy has experience as a mock trial attorney, legal intern, staff writer for the University of Georgia’s Undergraduate Law Review, and student representative for student lobbying groups in the U.S. Supreme Court, White House, and Congress. Kennedy was selected to participate in the Summer 2024 SPIA Firenze Study Abroad program and the Summer 2025 Oxford program. Kennedy was also selected to participate in the Washington, D.C. semester program for Fall 2025. As a student dedicated to the representation and service to her community, Kennedy is a member of the Zeta Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Kennedy has also served as an Executive board member for The University of Georgia’s Black Affairs Council’s Freshman Board, Recruitment Co-chair, and Football Ambassadors liaison for Georgia Daze Minority Recruitment Program, Mentor in the Clarke County Mentorship Program, and Student Member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. With Kennedy’s experience in the legal field and dedication to her community, she plans on attending law school and becoming an attorney.

 

Makayla Bangoura

My name is Makayla Bangoura, and I am a fourth-year student from Acworth, Georgia. I am an International Affairs Major with minors in Business and Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. I plan to attend law school following my graduation in May of 2026. During my time at UGA, I have had the opportunity to participate in the SPIA Firenze study abroad program, intern with Georgia State Representative David Wilkerson, and intern at a Family Law Firm in Marietta, Georgia. Outside of my school and professional work, I am a member of the UGA Model United Nations Team as a Travel Competition Team member, and the Loch Johnson Society as a General Article Member. I am excited to serve as a SPIA ambassador for the 2025-2026 school year.

 

Daniel Bartello

Daniel Bartello is a third-year student from Covington, Georgia, majoring in Political Science and International Affairs, with a certificate in Applied Politics. On campus, he is a member of the Student Alumni Council (SAC) and the Student Government Association (SGA). He also serves as a research assistant for the Political Science Department and contributes as a writer for both the Undergraduate Law Review and The Red & Black. In addition, Daniel is actively involved in a campus ministry and is a proud participant in the TRIO program. He plans to attend law school after graduation. Until then, he is honored to serve the SPIA student body.

 

Parker Buckroyd

Parker is a second-year Honors student from Dallas, Texas, on the pre-law track while majoring in Political Science and International Affairs with minors in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State, and Spanish. Parker is involved with various groups on campus, including Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Phi Pre-Law Honor Society, UGA Miracle, and was a member of UGA’s Student Government Association’s First Year Programs. Parker enjoys volunteering within the Athens community, where she frequently serves at the Sandy Creek Nature Center and the Brooklyn Cemetery clean-up. She is expected to graduate in May 2028 and aspires to attend law school following graduation. Parker also desires to study abroad in her upcoming years through SPIA’s various unique programs. She looks forward to serving as a 2025-26 ambassador!

 

Jane Cantrell

Jane Cantrell is a second-year Honors student from Flowery Branch, Georgia. Elizabeth Cardini

Elizabeth is a fourth-year student from Boston, Massachusetts, majoring in International Affairs and Criminal Justice. At UGA, she is currently involved in Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, Criminal Justice Society, Shop with A Bulldawg service organization (SWAB), and Pi Beta Phi. She studied abroad during the 2024 Fall Semester at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she completed their Peace and Conflict Studies program. Elizabeth is expected to graduate in Spring 2026 and aspires to build a career in the federal government, specializing in national security and intelligence. She is very excited for the opportunity to serve as a SPIA Ambassador for the 2025-2026 academic year!

 

Mary Clifton Carr

Mary Clifton Carr is a second-year student from Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in International Affairs and minoring in French. She has represented her sorority on Junior Panhellenic Council as well as Panhellenic Council and currently serves as the Director of Member Enrichment within her chapter. She currently serves in the Cabinet for the Student Government Association as the Director of Greek Life Outreach. This summer, she looks forward to studying abroad through the UGA à Paris program, where she will take two International Affairs courses and improve her French skills. After graduation, she hopes to attend graduate school and pursue a career in national security or government relations. Mary Clifton is excited to represent SPIA for the 2025-26 year!

 

Ella Chapman

Ella Chapman is a second-year Honors student from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, majoring in Political Science and Economics while pursuing a minor in French. In addition to being a SPIA Ambassador, she is currently involved in the Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law and Government Fraternity, UGA’s mentor program: Whatever it Takes, the Extra Special People (ESP) organization, and Chi Omega. This past summer, Ella had the opportunity to intern under U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy in his district office in Baton Rouge. Upon graduation in 2028, she expects to attend law school, with the goal of owning her own practice eventually. Ella is grateful for this opportunity to represent SPIA!

 

Ella Colker

Ella Colker is a third-year Honors student studying political science and international affairs. This summer, she studied abroad in Morocco with SPIA to continue research on the Abraham Accords. Upon her return, she began interning in the Fulton County District Attorney’s office. At UGA, Ella serves as the Student Government Association’s Campus Outreach Director and volunteers in the Professional Clothing Closet. Following graduation, Ella hopes to continue her education in Middle Eastern affairs and Arabic by traveling to the Middle East before returning to the US for law school.

 

Sophie Dechant

Sophie Dechant is a third-year student from Alexandria, Virginia, studying political science and economics with a minor in German. In addition to being a SPIA Ambassador, she is a Senior Staff Member for the Frye Fellowship, a PROPEL Rural Scholar with the UGA Institute of Government, and the Director of Leadership for Pi Beta Phi. Last semester, Sophie worked with English for All as a teaching assistant for an English class for Korean diplomats who were completing a program with SPIA. This semester, she will begin her Master of International Policy at UGA through the Double Dawgs Program. This is her first year as a SPIA Ambassador, and she is excited to represent and give back to this amazing school!

 

Julia DePasquale

Julia DePasquale is a fourth-year Honors student from Marietta, GA, double majoring in Political Science and Statistics and minoring in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State through the School of Law. She is expected to graduate in May 2026 and aspires to attend law school following graduation. Along with being a SPIA ambassador, Julia has been involved in Arch Policy Institute, Greek Life, KAPI pre-law fraternity, undergraduate research, and volunteering with Whatever it Takes.  She has professional experience interning for a juvenile public defender. Additionally, her two favorite experiences at UGA were studying abroad with SPIA through the Stellenbosch, South Africa program and attending the summer session of UGA at Oxford.

 

Suhani Dey

Suhani Dey is a third-year student from Cumming, GA, double majoring in International Affairs and Political Science. She is also pursuing a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and Public Affairs, as well as a Professional Certificate in Applied Politics. As a member of the UGA Model United Nations team, Suhani travels and competes on the national collegiate circuit. She also staffs UGA’s collegiate and high school conferences. Sadie Eubanks

Sadie is a second-year student from Athens, Georgia. She is a triple major in Political Science, International Affairs, and Economics with a minor in Spanish and a certificate in Sustainability. On campus, she is involved in the EcoRep program with UGA’s Sustainable Housing Department and ULead. Additionally, Sadie works at Canopy Studios as a children’s aerial dance teacher and as a hostess at a local restaurant. In her free time, she enjoys dancing at Canopy Studios, creating art, playing sports, and running. With SPIA, Sadie plans on participating in the Georgia Legislative Internship Program and the Washington Semester program. She also aims to study abroad in Oxford, Australia, and Valencia, Spain. Sadie is thrilled to serve as a connection between SPIA and the broader university, as well as the local Athens community.

 

Madeline Flores

I’m majoring in both Political Science & Public Relations. I’m also a member of the 10th cohort of the Applied Politics program, along with being a member of the 34th class of the Arch Society. I plan on going into a public relations role for a political campaign. I am thrilled to return to serving the School of Public and International Affairs at UGA.

 

Delaney Gertz

Delaney Gertz is a third-year student from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, majoring in Political Science and Spanish with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. On campus, she serves as an Ambassador for the UGA Mentor Program and is the director of the Social Media and Strategic Marketing Committee. She is also involved in Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, where she serves as the Social Media Chair, is a member of Alpha Phi Fraternity, Order of Omega, and other campus organizations. Delaney is looking forward to studying abroad in Valencia, Spain, for seven weeks over the summer, where she will further develop her Spanish-speaking abilities. After graduating, she plans to pursue a career in law.

 

Ava Godbey

Ava is a third-year Political Science and Communication Studies major. She currently serves as an Honors Teaching Assistant as well as a Peer Advised Leadership Mentor for the Morehead Honors College and enjoys being involved in the Alexander Hamilton Society and Alpha Delta Pi. She has interned for Congressman Mike Collins (GA-10) and Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41), and this summer she will intern for Senator Tom Cotton (AR) and the US House Budget Committee. Ava hopes to pursue a career in defense policy or diplomacy. She is grateful to return as an ambassador for another year!

 

Wilson Griffeth

Wilson is a first-year Honors student from Athens, GA, studying International Affairs at the University of Georgia. His academic interests include international law and international prosecutorial frameworks. Wilson is involved in SGA’s first-year Forum, collegiate 4-H, and enjoys service in the Athens community. Wilson is a Law Clerk at Massey Law Group, handling clients’ personal injury cases. After he graduates, Wilson intends to go to law school and pursue a career in the legal field. While at UGA, Wilson hopes to participate in the Washington Semester Program, the Richard B. Russell Security Leadership Program, and fully engage in all the opportunities SPIA has to offer. Wilson is very excited to serve his fellow SPIA members and share the wonderful things SPIA is doing with the world.

 

Bailey Hardison

Bailey is a third-year student from the Eastern Shore of Maryland majoring in Political Science with minors in English and Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. When not in class, she serves as a Tour Leader at the UGA Visitors Center and loves welcoming prospective students to campus. Bailey has also been involved in UGA at Oxford, Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, Order of Omega Honor Society, Shop With a Bulldawg, UGA Wesley and currently holds a leadership role in Panhellenic’s Pi Beta Phi. She hopes to pursue a master’s in educational administration and policy and work at a university in something related to student affairs or as an academic advisor.

Chinelo Ireh

Chinelo Ireh is a fourth-year student majoring in both political science and international affairs from Douglasville, GA. She also has minors in film studies and law, jurisprudence, and the state. After graduation, she plans on attending law school and becoming an attorney who works alongside policymakers. Outside of her studies, she writes for the George Political Review, conducts international affairs research with the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities, and is the President of the Black Theatrical Ensemble. She is excited to be an ambassador during her final year of college.

 

Will Jarzen

Will Jarzen is a second-year student from Monroe, Georgia, majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Spanish. He is involved on the Event Committee for UGA Miracle, which focuses on creating events around fundraising for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Will also serves on the Executive Board for the Alpha Mu chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha. Will has had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to attend a conference for first-time voters. There, he discussed and debated policy on a variety of important issues in our country. Will looks forward to serving as a 2025-26 ambassador!

 

Hannah Jones

Hannah Jones is a first-year Honors student from Calhoun, Georgia, double majoring in Political Science and International Affairs. At UGA, she serves as a tour guide for the Visitors Center, volunteers with the SGA Professional Clothing Closet, and participates in the SGA First-Year Forum. She is also a member of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s PROPEL Rural Scholars program and the Kennedy Program through the Terry College of Business. Through SPIA’s mentorship program, Hannah has had the opportunity to connect with and shadow accomplished alumni in their careers. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to pursue graduate school and a career in international organizations and diplomacy. Hannah is honored to represent SPIA and is passionate about supporting and empowering fellow students in their academic and professional journeys.

 

Kenzie Juliette

Kenzie Juliette is a senior graduating in May from Dawsonville, Georgia. She is currently very active on UGA’s campus and in the Athens-Clarke County community. She’s been very involved with UGA Miracle and Collegiate 4-H since her freshman year, she nannies biweekly for a local family of triplets, and works at Planet Smoothie in her free time. In the fall of 2024, Kenzie had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. with the Washington Semester Program and work an internship for a US Senator. Kenzie plans to attend Law School and hopes to one day serve our country in the Armed Forces. Kenzie is very excited to serve the SPIA community and give back to an institution that has supported her so much.

 

Mai Kumar

Mai Kumar is a junior from Alpharetta, Georgia, majoring in International Affairs with a minor in International Human Rights and Security. Her campus involvement includes Amnesty International, UGA HEROs, Bhakti Yoga, and many more. Inspired by summer travels with her sister to countries like Italy, Spain, and Switzerland, she has developed a strong passion for global issues and politics. Mai hopes to pursue a career in the human security field and plans to complete a Double Dawgs degree in International Policy. This will be her first year as a SPIA Ambassador, and she is super excited to connect with her fellow peers, serve with integrity, and proudly represent the SPIA community!

 

Naureen Lakhani

Naureen is a third-year student double majoring in International Affairs and Political Science, with an emphasis in International Law and Organizations, and minoring in English. She is currently a member of Kappa Alpha Pi pre-law fraternity and enjoys spending time volunteering within her community. Over the past year, she has interned with 2 immigration nonprofit organizations, including the International Rescue Committee. After graduating in May of 2026, she plans to attend law school. In the future, she hopes to pursue immigration law and work in the nonprofit sector, specifically with refugee communities. Naureen is excited to serve as SPIA Ambassador and is looking forward to representing SPIA and UGA!

 

Colin Lemaistre

Colin Lemaistre is a 3rd-year student from Cumming, Georgia, with majors in International Affairs and Political Science, as well as a minor in French and a global studies certificate. Colin is UGA’s Model United Nations Team’s DEI Chair, is a member of the travel team, and is a member of ServeUGA’s general body. He has studied abroad in Benin and France, where he expanded his French language skills and supported local education efforts. Colin loves to travel to unique places, ramble about cars, and (inconsistently) work out. He is extremely grateful for the opportunities SPIA has given him, is excited for the future, and hopes to continue experiencing personal growth and see the growth of those around him!

 

Athena Leskovics

Minor: International Human Rights & Security

Athena Leskovics is a third-year student from Macon, Georgia, double majoring in political science and international affairs and pursuing a minor in international human rights and security. Athena is involved in a variety of groups on campus. She writes for the Loch Johnson Society, where she researches and publishes pieces about current international affairs issues. Athena is a member of both the Kappa Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi and the Gamma Pi chapter of the Order of Omega. In the summer of 2025, Athena traveled with SPIA to Florence, Italy, where she participated in a Maymester, taking political science and international affairs classes abroad. She also spent the summer of 2025 working under lawyers Christy Childers and David McCain, where she grew her knowledge in the field of law. This fall, September 2026, Athena will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to attend and work a conference with the International Justice Mission, an organization that works to fight against human trafficking. Athena is excited to represent SPIA as an ambassador and shine a light on the school that has brought her so much joy and opportunity.

 

Elizabeth Lora

Elizabeth Lora is a third-year student from Georgia, double majoring in Political Science and International Affairs. She is also pursuing certificates in Global Studies and Data Analytics in Public Policy. On campus, Elizabeth is involved in LISTo and is a proud member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Her interests lie at the intersection of law, policy, and advocacy. After graduation, she plans to attend law school, work in public policy, and eventually start her own non-profit organization. Sarah Kate Maher is a third-year Honors student from Savannah, Georgia, double majoring in Political Science and Public Relations with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State and a certificate in Public Affairs Communication. She interned in Senator Ossoff’s office this past summer, as well as interning for the US Department of Defense for the past two school years. At UGA, Sarah Kate is the Head of Communications for Honors Student Council, a Spencer Frye Fellow, a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, a member of the Georgia Political Review, and a member of the student-run Talking Dog advertising agency.

 

Aarov Malhotra

Aarov is a third-year student from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, majoring in political science and economics. On Campus, Aarov leads the Representative Spencer Frye Fellowship and the Athens Prison Tutorial. He has also conducted health policy research with both the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government and the GLOBIS Human Rights Research Lab. After UGA, he hopes to pursue a policy-focused legal career. Aarov looks forward to deepening his connection with SPIA by serving as an ambassador.

Blake Martin is a third-year UGA student from Hoschton, Georgia. He is currently studying Political Science and International Affairs and pursuing Certificates in Personal and Organizational Leadership, Arch Ready Professionalism, and a Public Affairs Professional Certificate in Applied Politics. He has served as an Orientation Leader for the 2025 class and was on the executive board for Georgia Commitment Scholars. He is currently involved in Greek Life, Order of Omega Greek Honors Society, TRIO Programs, Society of Government Relations, and Student Government Association. Blake is also actively involved in community service, volunteering with ESP, Shop with a Bulldog, and campus ministries. After graduation, he plans to pursue a Master of Public Administration at UGA. Blake is honored to represent SPIA and is passionate about helping other students succeed.

William Mason is a graduate student from McDonough, Georgia, pursuing his Master’s in Public Administration. He received his degree in Political Science in the UGA Class of 2025, with minors in Philosophy and Law, Jurisprudence, and State. William is a member of the 8th Cohort of the Applied Politics Certificate program. He is pre-law intent and plans to attend law school and study Criminal or Administrative Law. William aspires to enter the field of law before entering the realm of politics later on. In his free time, he enjoys catching up on political news and cheering on the Dawgs in all things sports! William is honored and eager to represent SPIA and serve as an Ambassador this academic year.

 

Flora Mendoza
Majors: Political Science; International Affairs
Minor: French

Flora Mendoza is a second-year honors student from Marietta, Georgia, pursuing a degree in Political Science and International Affairs with a minor in French. She is actively involved in both the Model United Nations team on campus and the Arch Policy Institute Education Center. Thanks to her love for language-learning, this past summer, Flora traveled abroad with the UGA en France program, where she studied francophone culture and history. Flora is also particularly interested in Latin-American politics, being originally from Colombia. Before her graduation in 2028, she hopes to expand her knowledge in the fields of management, lobbying, and political data. She is thrilled to have this opportunity and cannot wait to serve as an ambassador for SPIA!

 

Camila Merino Corra

Camila is a rising fourth-year student originally from Yucatan, Mexico, but currently resides in Alpharetta, GA. She is a Double Dawgs student majoring in International Affairs and International Policy with a double minor in French & International Human Rights and Security and a certificate in Global Studies. On campus, she is an active member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., serving as Chapter Orientation Advisor, and holds the position of Vice President of External Affairs for the Multicultural Greek Council. Camila is also part of the Georgia Association of Elected Officials Institute of Leadership 2025 Cohort. After graduation, Camila hopes to get accepted into the Master’s of International Policy to have a concentration in Energy Security. Becoming a SPIA Ambassador presents a unique opportunity to grow personally and inspire incoming students to discover the endless opportunities SPIA offers.

 

Nayha Murugan

Nayha Murugan is a sophomore from Marietta, Georgia majoring in International Affairs and Economics, while pursuing a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State and Spanish. While at UGA, Nayha is involved in the Student Government Association and the Demosthenian Literary Society. In the summer of 2025, she studied abroad in Seville, Spain with the UGA en España program. After graduating, she hopes to attend law school. Nayha is incredibly honored to serve as a SPIA Ambassador and is excited to serve her school.

 

Courtney Navarro

Courtney is a fourth-year honors Double Dawg transfer student from Hoschton, Georgia, majoring in Political Science and Public Administration, with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State, and is pursuing a certificate in Global Studies. On campus, she is currently an active member of Georgia Political Review, First Page UGA, Young Democrats of UGA & ACC, Georgia DAZE Minority Recruitment, and Pi Sigma Alpha. She has also been involved in organizations such as Students for Harris and The Pantry at Hamilton Mill as an event/campus volunteer. In the summer of 2025, she will be interning with the District Attorney of Stevens County and will be an incoming Honors Teaching Assistant in the fall. In her free time, she enjoys reading books and drawing while conducting research on global political election trends. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in policy analysis within local and state governments and earn a joint M.P.A./J.D. degree in law school to grow professionally and further develop stronger legal research skills. Courtney is very excited about representing and sharing SPIA with other current and prospective students during the 2025-2026 school year!

 

Sophia Nguyen

Sophia Nguyen is a rising third-year student and Foundation Fellowship recipient from Duluth, Georgia. She has studied abroad at Oxford and with SPIA’s Ireland and Morocco programs, where she conducted research on human rights and Middle Eastern politics. Though she continues her research at the GLOBIS Human Rights Lab, Sophia is also involved with several organizations, including the Lamar Dodd Ambassadors, Georgia Political Review, Office of Global Engagement, and the Walter J. Brown Media Archives, where she works with the third-largest broadcasting archive in the nation. Dedicated to cultural preservation efforts and human rights, she hopes to study preservation law or attain her Master’s in Art History once she graduates. Regardless, Sophia is honored to start the year as an ambassador supporting SPIA and its students!

 

Gabriela Null

Gabriela is a third-year student from Atlanta, Georgia. She is double majoring in Political Science and English, and minoring in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. At UGA, Gabriela is currently involved in the Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law and Government Fraternity and serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Mu Beta Chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity. She is also a volunteer at the Athens Community Council on Aging. For the summer of 2025, she will be participating in an opportunity to study English at the University of Oxford in London. Gabriela plans to attend law school after graduation and pursue a career in litigation. She is extremely grateful and excited for this opportunity to serve her community and represent the College of SPIA!

 

Hayes Orr

Hayes Orr is a fourth-year student from Savannah, Georgia, double majoring in Political Science and International Affairs with a minor in Spanish. Last fall, he completed the Public Affairs Professional Certificate in Applied Politics as part of the program’s ninth cohort, and in the spring, he studied abroad in Valencia, Spain. Over the summer, Hayes interned on Capitol Hill with both the House Oversight Committee, the primary investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, and in the personal office of his congressman. On campus, he serves on the executive committee of the Loch Johnson Society, UGA’s student-led foreign policy journal, and is a member of the Alexander Hamilton Society. Hayes is looking forward to being back in Athens and representing SPIA as an ambassador for a second year.

 

Samantha Pixley

Samantha is a third-year International Affairs major with a minor in Transnational European Studies from Alpharetta. She is involved in Phi Alpha Delta, the Pre-Law Fraternity on campus, and is currently mastering French. She has previously studied abroad in Barcelona in International marketing. She will be attending Oxford University in the fall semester of 2025. She hopes to obtain a master’s degree and attend law school after her time at the University of Georgia to work in International Law.

 

Hallie Poole

Hallie is a fourth-year student from Savannah, Georgia, majoring in Political Science with a minor in International Affairs. Through UGA’s Double Dawgs program, she is also pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA), which she expects to complete by spring 2027.
This past summer, Hallie had the opportunity to intern for U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, where she supported constituent services and witnessed firsthand how federal policy directly shapes the lives of Georgians. The summer prior, she participated in the SPIA Firenze Study Abroad Program in Italy. On campus, Hallie is involved in service organizations such as Shop with a Bulldog (SWAB) and Silver Wings. She is honored and excited to represent the School of Public and International Affairs and looks forward to serving as an ambassador for the 2025–2026 term.

 

Anna Rose Powell

Anna Rose is a senior majoring in Spanish and International Affairs and is a returning SPIA ambassador. She participated in SPIA’s National Parks Program in summer 2024 and spent the spring 2025 semester abroad in Spain. Her additional on-campus involvement includes Bag the Bag and Shop with a Bulldog. Upon graduation, Anna Rose plans to teach English abroad in a Spanish-speaking country. She can’t wait to spend her senior year representing SPIA!

 

Anna Kate Robinson

Anna Kate is a fourth-year undergraduate student from Wrightsville, Georgia. She is double majoring in International Affairs and Political Science with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. She is also working towards a certificate in Global Studies. Anna Kate’s passion for service is evident in her various leadership positions and community engagement activities. On campus, she is involved in UGA Miracle and has served on the Leadership Team for the past two years. Anna Kate is a member of the Gamma Pi chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha and has previously served on the Executive Council as Vice President I. She is currently serving as her chapter’s Parents Weekend Chair on Programs Council. Anna Kate is also a member of the UGA Order of Omega, which selects the top 5% of Greek leaders on campus for exceptional leadership, community involvement, and contributions to the community. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and the American Heart Association. As an ambassador, Anna Kate is passionate about welcoming more rural students into SPIA and sharing with others about all of the amazing opportunities that our school provides. She is honored to represent SPIA as an ambassador for the 2025-26 school year!

 

Claire Scafidi

Minor: Studio Art

Claire is a third-year student from Kennesaw, Georgia, majoring in International Affairs, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Spanish while also pursuing a minor in Studio Art.
She is involved with the Loch Johnson Society, the Georgia Political Review, the Arch Policy Institute, and is the co-leader of the Honors Global History and Affairs Book Discussion. While at UGA, Claire has studied abroad in Cuba, studying Cultural Psychology, and at Oxford University with SPIA. This Fall, she is excited to serve as an Honors Teaching Assistant. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school.

 

Arushi Shetty

Arushi Shetty is a second-year Political Science major from Raleigh, NC, double minoring in Criminal Justice and Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. She is on the pre-law track with aspirations to pursue a legal career focused on advocating for minority communities, a passion sparked by her experience as a North Carolina Governor’s Page. On campus, Arushi serves as the Vice President of Brotherhood for Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity and as the Social Media Chair for University Union, where she combines leadership with a creative edge. She’s also a proud member of Counterpoint Dance Company. In her spare time, you’ll find her editing videos for freelance marketing clients, binge-reading The Hunger Games, or hunting down the best sushi spot in town. Arushi is excited to represent SPIA and help other students find their path through law and public service.

 

Brianna Speizer

Brianna Speizer is a third-year student from Marietta, GA, pursuing a major in Political Science with minors in Spanish and Law, Jurisprudence, & the State through the School of Law. This May, she will study abroad in Valencia, Spain, through the UGA en España, Valencia program to study Spanish. She is involved with Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Alpha Delta, Order of Omega, and UGA Miracle. Brianna has donated her hair to Children with Hair Loss four times and volunteers with Casa de Amistad. Upon graduation in spring 2027, she aspires to attend UGA Law School. She is beyond excited to serve as a SPIA Ambassador, representing a school that has given her so many opportunities.

 

Meera Srinivasan

Meera is a senior from Columbus, Georgia, pursuing degrees in Political Science and International Affairs as well as certificates in Applied Politics and Data Analytics. In addition to being a SPIA Ambassador, she serves as Political Director for the Spencer Frye Fellowship, writes for student-led publications on campus, and sings with the UGA Hodgson Singers. She enjoys writing, making art, and learning languages in her free time. After graduation, Meera hopes to pursue a career in public service and create a positive impact through policy. She is excited to return as an Ambassador and serve SPIA and the University!

 

Will Stevens

Will Stevens is a third-year student double-majoring in Political Science and Public Relations from Jefferson, GA. Will currently serves as the Morehead Honors College Senator, is an active member of Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX), and attends Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Last summer, Will worked as an intern for the Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C. As for the rest of his college career, Will is excited to pursue study abroad and internship opportunities.

 

Grayson Taylor

Grayson Taylor is a third-year student from Evans, Georgia, majoring in Political Science and Business Management, with a certificate in legal studies. In addition to being a SPIA Ambassador, Grayson serves as a member of numerous pre-law organizations, including: Undergraduate Mock Trial, Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity, and Defender Advocate Society. As an ambassador, Grayson hopes to connect more students with the SPIA community and to add a different perspective to the SPIA experience. Outside of his studies, Grayson spends time in other areas of the University, both as a resident assistant in the on-campus housing and as a “Digital Dawg” Social Media Ambassador. Grayson plans to attend law school after completing his undergraduate degrees. Grayson is very excited about being a SPIA Ambassador and is passionate about the work he can hopefully accomplish in this new role.

 

Brayden Titus

Brayden Titus is a Master of Public Administration student specializing in International Policy and Administration from Canton, GA. He graduated with a degree in International Affairs from the University of Georgia. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in the 2023 Maymester Program to Stellenbosch, South Africa, and the 2024 Maymester Program to Australia and New Zealand. In addition to participating in the SPIA Ambassador program, Brayden was a part of the GLOBIS Human Rights Lab in Fall 2024. This is his second year as an ambassador, and he looks forward to serving SPIA.

 

Annabella vanKempen

Anabella van Kempen is a second-year student from Chicago, Illinois, triple majoring in Political Science, Sociology, and Philosophy with minors in Public Administration, Jurisprudence, and Criminal Justice. She is deeply involved on campus through her leadership roles in several organizations. Anabella is a member of Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity, serves as Co-Director of Public Relations for Shop with a Bulldawg, and is on the Recruitment Board for Gamma Phi Beta.
She is passionate about law and public service and plans to attend law school after graduation to pursue a career in white-collar criminal law. Anabella is committed to using her academic and leadership experiences to advocate for justice and integrity within complex legal systems. She looks forward to engaging more deeply with her peers and contributing meaningfully to the UGA community through this opportunity.

 

Saige Wakefield

Saige Wakefield is a third-year student majoring in Political Science and International Affairs on the pre-law track. She also has a minor in Communications Studies. Saige is the Community Service Cochair for Georgia Daze, Advocate for Social Justice Cochair for the Eta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a member of the Black Pre-Law Association, and much more. Saige is also a Peer Learning Assistant, where she introduces and guides students through courses in international relations and global issues. For the past 3 years, she has interned with the magistrates and superior courts as a judge’s assistant. As a returning ambassador, she is more than delighted to continue the legacy and achievements of SPIA and SPIA students.

 

Elijah Watson

Elijah Watson is a rising third-year student from Marietta, GA. He is a double major in Economics & International Affairs, pursuing the Terry College of Business Legal Studies Certificate. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, UGA Model United Nations, Georgia Daze, Black Pre-Law Association, and the Keystone Fellowship. In his free time, he enjoys studying languages, playing guitar, working out, and being a freelance DJ. After graduation, he desires to attend law school to become an attorney. He is enthusiastic about this opportunity and ready to serve the SPIA community!

 

Jacob Weiszer

Jacob Weiszer is a fourth-year Honors student from Athens, GA. He is studying International Affairs and Management Information Systems and would like to attend law school post-graduation. Jacob is a UGA Model United Nations team member, an active staff writer for the Georgia Political Review, and a fellow in the Richard B. Russell Security Leadership Program. Jacob has studied abroad in both the United Kingdom and Italy. He is excited to return as a SPIA Ambassador for a second year.

 

Paul Westmoreland
Majors: International Affairs; Spanish

Paul is a fourth-year student from Commerce, Georgia, majoring in International Affairs and Spanish. At UGA, Paul serves as a Justice for the University Judiciary and is the Director of Operations for the 2025-2026 school year. He is also an active Service Ambassador for Serve UGA, helping to hold a variety of volunteer events around Athens. Additionally, Paul studied abroad in Valencia, Spain, during the summer of 2024, and has applied to be a Peer-learning Assistant for this upcoming fall. After graduation, Paul plans to attend law school in the hope of one day becoming a lawyer. In becoming a SPIA Ambassador, Paul is excited to represent SPIA, expanding his horizons, while actively engaging with the community as a 2025-2026 ambassador!

 

Shyneria Whatley

Shyneria Whatley is a Political Science Major from Columbus, Georgia. She is also pursuing a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, & the State and a certificate in Applied Politics. She has completed internships for the Sanford Bishop Campaign and at the Athens Western Judicial Circuit Office. Shyneria spent the 2024 Maymester studying abroad in Florence and Rome, Italy, through the SPIA a Firenze program. After completing her undergraduate degree, Shyneria intends to attend law school.

 

Lydia White

Lydia is a first-year honors student from Knoxville, Tennessee. She is double majoring in Political Science and Public Relations. On campus, Lydia is involved in Chi Omega Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity, and is a YoungLife Leader at North Oconee High School. She hopes to attend law school and is looking to pursue a career in public interest law. Lydia is excited to be an ambassador and represent SPIA!

 

George Williams

George is a second-year student from Atlanta, GA. He is currently studying International Affairs and is a part of the Moorehead Honors College. As an Eagle Scout and member of the UGA Outdoors Club, you can often find him out in nature. He has traveled to many countries across the world and hopes to use the things he learns in SPIA to help make the world a better place. George is honored and excited to represent the school as an ambassador this year.

 

Wyatt Williams
Majors: Political Science; Economics
Minor: Spanish

Wyatt is a second-year Honors student from Birmingham, Alabama. He is majoring in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Spanish. Wyatt currently serves as Director of Organizational Outreach for the Student Government Association and Co-service Chair for his fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi. In the upcoming year, he will join the PROPEL Rural Scholars program and intern with Alabama Appleseed, working in the re-entry program for the formerly incarcerated. Wyatt hopes to receive a well-rounded education inside and outside the classroom and take advantage of resources to build a career around the service of others. He is grateful to represent SPIA this year as an ambassador and looks forward to the doors that will be opened!
