Public Administration and Policy is pleased to announce Charlene Marsh as MPA Student of the Month for November!

Charlene is a second year Master of Public Administration student, specializing in public policy and management. Through support from the Athens-Clarke County Mayor’s Office and Historic Athens, she is currently working as a research assistant, studying the economic and social impacts of urban renewal on Black communities.

This past summer Charlene served as an intern with the Athens-Clarke County Mayor’s Office where she conducted policy research on issues such as workforce development, community policing, economic development, and urban renewal.

Prior to beginning her first semester as a full-time graduate student this Fall, Charlene studied International Affairs, Political Science, and French at the University of Georgia, while taking classes toward her MPA. Before graduating in May 2019, she was involved in a number of ways on campus including serving as a Resident Assistant, President of UGA’s Model African Union, and a member of the Arch Society. During her senior year she had the opportunity to channel her passions for advocacy and service into her role as Vice President of the Student Government Association.

A Georgia native with roots in Liberia, West Africa, Charlene enjoys traveling domestically and internationally. She also spends her spare time reading books and listening to podcasts that discuss a variety of social issues.

Congratulations Charlene!
