Tim Kassa (AB ‘99) hails from Jonesboro, Georgia, and says he knew he wanted to be a bulldog the moment he came to the University of Georgia for a campus tour. He credits UGA for reaffirming his ability to thrive in large groups and for exposing him to a variety of diverse perspectives. Both of these skills help Tim in his career today.

After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in political science, Tim went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University (‘04). With both degrees under his belt, Tim has built up an impressive resume in the transportation industry. From his time as a Planning Branch Chief for the Georgia Department of Transportation to his time as the Senior Transportation Planner at AECOM, Tim has had an incredible influence on Atlanta’s infrastructure as we know it today.

Currently, Tim is the Senior Project Manager at HTNB, an infrastructure firm in Atlanta. At HTNB, Tim is responsible for managing projects as well as their budgets, and presenting transportation data to clients.  Tim also does a lot of technical reading and writing in order to stay up to date on the current trends and demands of infrastructure and transportation.

Tim is excited to be a part of the School of Public and International Affairs’ Alumni Board because he is very people-oriented and wants to be able to mentor current students; he adds, “I like helping people and if they can learn from my experiences to make a better decision, that’s awesome.”

If you don’t, however, get a chance to mentor under Tim, this is his piece of advice for undergraduate students: “Make sure you take the time to appreciate every moment, small and big.”
