Congratulations to William Brooks for being selected as Public Administration and Policy’s February MPA Student of the Month!

William is in his last semester of the MPA program, specializing in Local Government. Born and raised in Los Angeles, William combines experience in the arts and nonprofit sectors with a passion for city management. Prior to joining the MPA program at UGA, he focused on building a career in the arts. He accumulated over five years of experience working in arts and cultural non-profits in California, North Carolina, and Virginia as well consulting for the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture as part of the Youth Advisory Council.

He has excelled at applying knowledge of public administration and policy learned in the MPA program in the real world. In summer 2022, he worked as a Summer Fellow for the Montgomery County Council in Maryland. During this fellowship, he analyzed technology policy as well as conducting independent research on the Arts and Entertainment Districts and giving policy recommendations to the County Council. He also completed a Popular Annual Financial Report Fellowship for Ridgefield, WA. In addition, he serves as the president of the UGA student chapter of International City/County Management Association.

He looks forward to completing the MPA program and securing a job in local government in order to achieve his career goal of becoming a city manager.
