CITS Senior Research Associate Dr. Sara Kutchesfahani spoke at the UN at the Academic Symposium on the NPT. The academic symposium was convened at the sidelines of the 2015 NPT Review Conference. The symposium was sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the UN’s Office of Disarmament as host, and Harvard¹s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey were the academic co-sponsors.

The 14 panelists selected to speak represented some of the most significant NPT-related research projects underway. The symposium presented and discussed cutting-edge scholarly research on nuclear nonproliferation related issues.

Dr. Kutchesfahani spoke on the non-proliferation panel about the significance of the NPT in the creation of the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for the Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (ABACC) the world¹s only existing bilateral mutual safeguards inspection agency.
