April 2025 MPA Student of the Month: Margaret Hart

Congratulations to Margaret Hart for being selected as April MPA Student of the Month!

Margaret Hart is a Master of Public Administration student in her final year of the program. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs from UGA as a Double Dawg with the MPA program. Her passion for public service began when she helped loved ones successfully navigate constituent services to access essential resources. Experiencing how lesser known and complex government programs could provide life-changing support led her to explore ways to make public systems more accessible and effective.

Previously, Margaret worked as a legislative intern in the Office of Senator Warnock in Washington, D.C., where she researched environmental, agricultural, infrastructure, and financial policy, drafted memoranda, and managed constituent correspondence. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, she assisted Georgians with casework in the Senator’s Atlanta office, connecting them to federal resources. Providing citizens a direct pathway into the policymaking process reinforced her interest in the intersection of government programs and advocacy.

At UGA, Margaret serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, where she researches workforce and economic development trends to provide data-driven recommendations to public entities. She also assists with the Georgia Workforce Conference, which hosts over 300 individuals from across the state. In addition to research, she is an active member of Georgia Students for Public Administration and enjoys engaging in service initiatives with both community and animal care in Athens.

After completing her MPA, Margaret plans to attend law school to integrate her policy and management expertise with legal advocacy. She aims to pursue a career in public interest law, using her background in government and policy to ensure government services effectively serve communities.
