SPIA graduate teaching assistant and PhD candidate receives fellowship from Harvard University

Congratulations to Samara Scheckler, PADP undergraduate instructor and PhD candidate, for receiving a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, which resides within the Kennedy School.

Samara completed the UGA MPA program in 2014 and has continued on with the Ph.D. program in Public Administration and Policy with a specialization in health policy, while also working as a Research and Teaching Assistant.

This is a relatively new fellowship offered by Harvard. They select two fellows every other year and Samara will be in the second cohort. Samara will be working on a new, interdisciplinary aging initiative that coordinates research between the Housing Center, the School of Government, the Medical School, and the School of Public Health.

We are very excited for Samara and this wonderful opportunity.
