March 2026 MPA Student of the Month: Julia Straka

Julia Straka is a Master of Public Administration student in her final semester. She graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Sociology. Her commitment to public service is rooted in her passion for community impact through volunteerism.

Currently, Julia serves as a Philanthropy Associate at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, a position she transitioned into after her time as one of their Philanthropy Fellows. She assists in the outreach of the organization by developing marketing content and informative documents that share their mission and impact. Julia also assists in the strategic planning and coordination of fundraising campaigns and events.

Julia’s dedication to public service is mirrored in her involvement on campus. As President of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) UGA Chapter, she organizes networking and educational opportunities for emerging leaders. Additionally, she serves as the Communications Officer for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and as an active member of Georgia Students for Public Administration (GSPA). Last year, Julia was recognized as the Most Involved GSPA Member. Following graduation, she looks forward to a career of community impact and leading others to make a difference.
