Congratulations to MPA student Meredith Bennett for being selected as student of the month for February! Public Administration and Policy is proud to have Meredith in our program!

Meredith is a second year MPA student with an emphasis on health policy and administration. She currently works as a graduate teaching assistant for the department, leading Introduction to American Government breakout sections. She considers herself incredibly fortunate to spend each week engaging with her two passions: education and health policy.

Prior to graduate work, Meredith graduated Cum Laude from UGA in 2015, with degrees in Psychology and Linguistics. After graduation, she completed an English teaching fellowship through Colombia’s National Ministry of Education. Through this fellowship, she became interested in how administration and planning impacts service delivery. This interest led to a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA at an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization working in mental health, substance use, and HIV prevention. This work in program development and implementation motivated her to go back to school and receive her MPA. For her internship component of the program, she served as an Administrative and Communications intern at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the Public Health Law Program where she produced several communications deliverables. She hopes to find employment after graduation in the health and human services.

In her spare time, you can find Meredith spending time with her rescue puppy Jackie, watching a foreign language film, or just talking someone’s ear off about something new she learned this week.
