CITS Conducts Strategic Trade Control Outreach in Chile

The Center for International Trade and Security organized a series of briefings from June 28-30 for the government of Chile and Chile’s main industry association, SOFOFA,  in support of Chile’s efforts to strengthen and modernize its strategic trade control system. The government of Chile is seeking to develop new legislation that will help address international obligations and pave the way for Wassenaar Arrangement membership.   On June 28, 2016 CITS/UGA organized a multilateral group of experts from the United States, Argentina and Mexico and industry to share national experiences on strategic trade controls with industry representatives at SOFOFA.  The systems of Mexico and Argentina were of special interest as these two countries are the only countries in the Latin American region that are currently members of the Wassenaar Arrangement.
