CITS conducts nuclear security curriculum development

CITS hosted a training workshop for academics from Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Georgia on Nuclear Security Curriculum Development in Vienna, Austria between May 12-15, 2015. The workshop was funded by the United States Department of State’s Partnership for Nuclear Security (PNS), the Science & Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU), with logistical support provided by CRDF Global .

The primary objective of the workshop was to assist faculty with nuclear security curriculum development and training courses. It provided training on nuclear security pedagogy and instructional design for new and existing curricula on three distinct themes of nuclear security, both from a policy and technical perspective: (1) the concept and importance of nuclear security, (2) international (legal) efforts relating to nuclear security, and (3) steps to strengthen nuclear security. The workshop was conducted in English with simultaneous Russian interpretation.

The workshop was attended by over 27 academics from different educational affiliations, including universities and training centers who are hoping to introduce nuclear security curricula to their respective universities.
