Hi everyone! My name is Brianna Speizer, and I am a third year political science and international affairs major in SPIA, with minors in Spanish and law, jurisprudence, and the state. This semester, I have had the incredible opportunity to intern at the Georgia General Assembly during the legislative session. With the help of Dr. Bullock, I was placed in the Office of the Speaker of the House, Jon Burns, which has been an amazing and eye-opening experience. The Speaker presides over the House of Representatives, and this role has allowed me to gain firsthand insight into leadership within the legislative branch. After taking Southern Politics and Legislative Process, I became especially interested in how the legislative process functions at the state level. This internship has given me the chance to meet and interact with lobbyists, constituents, and members of the legislature, as well as interns from colleges and universities across the state.
