As part of International Education Month, Public Administration and Policy is celebrating some of our outstanding international students. Meet Jaewon Lee.

Jaewon Lee is an international student from South Korea. He is a Master of Public Administration and Policy student at the University of Georgia. He is currently studying the areas of public policy and local government management. Before joining the MPA program, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing at UGA in 2018. During his years in college, he was motivated to learn how the brand message delivers its underlying value and communicates its business value to customers.

After he graduated, he worked at Carl Vinson Institute of Government International Center. At that time, he was impressed by public service and how the public values of government officials can make a positive impact on the community, increasing the quality of life for citizens. During his MPA, he has had multiple internships and research assistant positions. He had an internship at GovDirections LLC. where he gained more knowledge of contract opportunities in local, state, and federal government agencies. During his internship, he depended on research skills in the analysis of government budgets to provide as many opportunities as possible for local businesses to participate in the government contract project.

The most important public value for Jaewon is representativeness and responsibility. He wants to be a public administrator that represents each community member to satisfy their needs and contribute to their quality of life. In the future, he would like to pursue his career as a marketing coordinator in the public sector by having good networking opportunities in various fields.

In his free time, Jaewon enjoys going hiking, participating in outdoor sporting events, and eSports competitions. He also enjoys time with his life-long and furry friend Jackson.
