Master of Public Administration (MPA)
Micah Shannon is an aspiring public servant born in Minneapolis, MN and raised in Athens, GA. As the son of a geographer and a sociologist, he has always had an interest in how public policy shapes and affects our lives. He is particularly interested in housing policy, urban planning and design, transportation, and tax policy. Currently, he is a student in the Master of Public Administration program at the University of Georgia, where he hopes to gain the skills and understanding necessary to pursue an impactful career in public policy. In addition to his studies, he works part-time at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Applied Demography Program, where he works to help decisionmakers around Georgia be better informed about their communities. He also attended UGA for his undergraduate education, where he majored in Political Science and Geography and worked towards certificates in Geographic Information Science and Data Analytics in Public Policy as well as a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State.
