Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Born and raised in Watkinsville, GA, Meredith Young attended the University of Georgia in 2018, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminal justice. While in school, she held executive roles in several clubs and interned on local State House campaigns, managing volunteer recruitment and contributing to digital outreach. She completed her Criminal Justice Internship with Project Safe, Inc., serving as the sole Fatality Review Intern. She conducted detailed reviews of fatal/near-fatal domestic violence cases, analyzing high-risk offender patterns and identifying service gaps. The 30+ offender portfolios she developed were shared with agencies in Clarke and surrounding counties, advocating for a policy-driven, interagency approach to domestic violence, nationally referred to as a “High-Risk Team”.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude in December 2021, Young then pursued a career in Georgia politics. Over three years, she worked on four campaigns, working directly with political stakeholders and concerned constituents, developing field plans that centered top policy priorities based on survey data, and organizing campaign events for candidates in 20+ counties. In 2024, her field plan propelled a congressional candidate through a competitive primary, and in 2023, her efforts helped Athens-Clarke County elect its first Latinx Clerk of Court.
Though her experience is rooted in electoral politics, Young aims to shape public policy, and therefore service, by working within government systems to advocate for, and ensure the proper implementation of, policies that protect and empower vulnerable communities. With a focus on healthcare and education policy, she aspires to build a more equitable future for Georgia, the South, and beyond.
