Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Jakob is a graduate of the School of Public and International affairs at the University of Georgia, where he earned a bachelors degree in political science with a minor in public administration. While a student at UGA, he was competitively selected to take part in the Washington Semester Program in Washington D.C, and interned with a higher education policy organization called SHEEO to build policy experience at the federal level. He has built experience with political campaign work and constituent outreach as well as policy & political analysis. Going forward, he is looking to continue to build legislative experience, and broaden his understanding of the field at multiple levels of government.

Jakob holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia as well as a minor in public policy and administration. These programs have given him insight into the electoral realities that must be considered in the policy process, as well as a solid foundation of qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.

Relevant Work Experience

As part of his undergraduate internship experience, Jakob worked with the federal policy team of the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association (abbreviated as SHEEO) as a government relations intern. While there, he provided research and analysis regarding the Build Back Better framework with a focus on its implications for the higher education space. He also provided the organization with research into policies addressed during negotiated rule making at the department of Education. Finally, he assisted SHEEO in executing their 2021 policy conference. Jakob has also build leadership, organizational, and political campaign experience working with the Progressive Turnout Project during the 2022 midterms in Georgia. As a community mobilization organizer, he was responsible for helping PTP build grassroots campaign infrastructure for their relational organizing efforts that year, and went on to be responsible for recruiting, training, and overseeing a team of over 250 community mobilizers in the state of Georgia.

Career Goals

Going forward, Jakob would like to build a career working directly with policy either within a legislature or on a local level. He is also open to working for nonprofits in an issue advocacy role.
