Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Victoria Hasko is an Associate Professor in World Language Education and an affiliate of the Departments of Germanic and Slavic Studies and Linguistics at the University of Georgia. She is also a Faculty Fellow at UGA’s Center for International Trade and Security.

Dr. Hasko earned her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Pennsylvania State University in 2007. Her research delves into various aspects of advanced proficiency achievement and interdisciplinary in Russian language and area studies. Her scholarly contributions encompass journal articles, book chapters, edited volumes, and instructional materials. These works are informed by her extensive experience in teaching and researching all proficiency levels of Russian.

She has initiated and leads several federal programs at UGA oriented towards national security programming. These include the Russian Flagship program and the Project Global Officer programs, both funded by the Defense Language National Security Education Office of the Department of Defense, as well as the STARTALK Russian for Global Professionals immersion program, an initiative funded by the National Security Agency. Furthermore, Dr. Hasko has designed and currently directs the UGA study abroad program titled ‘Immersion in the Russian Language, Cultures, and Communities in the Baltics’, which receives funding from the Department of Education’s Fulbright-Hays program for advanced overseas immersion.
