Children First, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Athens. They promote safe homes for children in times of family crisis. They offer three different programs:

Athens-Oconee CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) – Works to improve the lives of children in foster care throughout the state. By advocating for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, our volunteers amplify each child’s voice and help change a child’s story.

Safe Care (Home Visiting Services) – Is an evidence-based, in-home parenting-training curriculum for parents who have current or previous involvement with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). It is delivered in the home or community setting. It also teaches a structured problem solving technique to assist parents with finding solutions to life challenges that may affect parenting.

SPARC (Supportive Parenting and Access Resource Center) – Helps non-custodial parents navigate the difficulties of establishing or maintaining contact with their children. It identifies obstacles and barriers to visitation/parenting time by working with both mothers and fathers and offering a range of services such as: Legitimation Assistance/Parental Rights Education, Parenting Education, and Neutral Drop off Visits.
