Dr. Tyler Reinagel serves as Director of Policy and Research for the Council of State Governments Southern Region (CSG South), leading the policy portfolio and research efforts for the non-partisan organization’s work with 15-state region.

Dr. Reinagel earned his Ph.D. In Public Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia in 2013, with a research focus on state and local government management and public budget and finance. His academic research has been published in Administration and Society, Social Science Quarterly, and State and Local Government Review, among others. His applied research and training have been used by organizations including the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Georgia Municipal Association, Georgia Government Finance Officers Association, and others. While earning his Ph.D. and MPA (2009) at UGA, Dr. Reinagel served as a graduate fellow at the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership under UGA’s Vice President for Public Service and Outreach.

Prior to joining CSG South, Dr. Reinagel served as Associate Vice President for Economic Development at Kennesaw State University and as Director of Planning and Research with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

Dr. Reinagel is a native of Woodstock and currently lives in Atlanta, and has been to each of Georgia’s 159 counties over the course of his career.
