Obaloluwa Ayooluwa Aka is a Ph.D. student in Political Science and International Affairs at the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs. He earned a master’s degree in political science from the University of Kentucky and a B.Sc. in Political Science from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His research focuses on political parties, elections, and leadership in Africa, with particular attention to how informal institutions such as ethnicity influence formal institutions like elections and primary elections. He has worked with Afrobarometer on survey research and has published dispatches on youth, migration, climate change, and economic challenges in Africa.
