Karlee is originally from Mishawaka, Indiana. She graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with focus in legal studies and ethics. Her primary research focuses perceptions of racial authenticity, political behavior, public opinion, partisanship and inclusive pedagogy. Her scholarly contributions have been recognized through research funding from Indiana Humanities, which resulted in the creation of a historical marker honoring Harriette Bailey Conn.

She demonstrates leadership both inside and outside the classroom. She served on the founding committee for the SPIA Graduate Student Association before becoming its founding president. Her commitment to student engagement is evident in her teaching philosophy, which emphasizes active participation both in and out of the classroom.

In recognition of her academic excellence and contributions to their field, Karlee was named a Future Faculty Fellow for 2025 and received the prestigious SPIA Graduate Student in Excellence in Teaching Award.
