Dr. John Patrick Jarvis is the Academic Dean at the FBI Academy. With 29 years of experience in criminal justice analysis, Dr. Jarvis has also served in the Uniform Crime Reporting Program and as Chief Criminologist in the Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI Academy. From 2013-2016, Dr. Jarvis was a member of the Critical Incident Response Group as part of the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime. He conducts research on lethal and non-lethal violence, mass victimization events, violent crime trends and the dynamics of crime clearance rates. Dr. Jarvis’ research has appeared in a range of journals, including Police Chief, Journal of Homicide Studies, Justice Quarterly, and the Journal of Trauma, Violence, and Abuse.
