The China Maymester Program is a three-week travel program with time spent in Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. All students will enroll in two courses taught by UGA faculty – China’s Government and Economy and Chinese Society and Culture. Students will climb the Great Wall, explore the Forbidden City, and experience the Terracotta Warriors. An internship opportunity in Shanghai is also available for any students interested in remaining in China for an additional 6 weeks.
The China Maymester program has developed an internship opportunity for any students who wish to remain in China for an additional 6-week period. Students who do not attend the China Maymester Program are also eligible to join the internship program hosted in Shanghai. Placements in English speaking entities are guaranteed with a variety of options open to participants including Chambers of Commerce and law firms. Credit can be earned for the experience. Internship fee includes housing in an apartment, academic support, bridging cultures orientation, 24/7 support, transportation card, and cultural activities.
Financial aid to support participation in this program is available through the Asia-Georgia Internship Connection (Freeman Asia Grant).
