Master of Public Administration (MPA)
As a high school student, Tyler began working as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the YMCA which provided him an introduction into public service through free swim lesson programs for children in low socioeconomic areas. Following the conclusion of his high school career, he achieved a full bright futures academic scholarship to attend Florida State University where he would study political science. In his undergraduate academic career he concentrated his coursework on emergency management and homeland security as well as completed a minor in international affairs. Additionally, as an undergraduate Tyler began working for Florida State University Campus Recreation where he was quickly promoted to the Student Director of Water Safety Program. In his time at working with Campus Recreation he developed a passion for higher education, student development, and student affairs. Throughout his undergraduate work Tyler also participated in service opportunities as a fundraiser for Dance Marathon, and Relay for Life, as well as an event planner for the America Cancer Society, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. In his senior year, Tyler attended the NIRSA Region 2 collegiate recreation conference where he established relations with the University of Georgia Department of Recreation Sports where he now works as a Graduate Assistant for the Aquatics Program.
