Tsun-Kai is a first-generation Taiwanese American with expertise regarding the affairs and politics between Taiwan and China due to his cultural background.

Tsun-Kai came to the US when he was 18 as a first-generation immigrant from Taiwan right after he finished high school. Later, he overcame the language obstacle and obtained his BA degree in psychology from UCI.

He also joined the United State Marine Corps in 2011 and became an enlisted Marine to serve the country that offered him so many opportunities. During his years of service, he was able to offer his knowledge and opinions regarding East Asian politics and affairs to help and support some of the work for counterintelligence personnel from time to time.

In the later years of his service, Tsun-Kai was promoted to the rank of corporal and acted as the assistant platoon leader. He finished his contract and was honorably discharged in 2018.

Research Interests

Tsun-Kai is interested in examining international affairs in East Asia, and he particularly wants to study the relationship between China and Taiwan as well as US’s role in that relationship.
