Master of Public Administration (MPA)

A graduate of UGA’s Terry College of Business, Stephanie joins the MPA program after a long career in private industry as founder and CEO of Plexus, Inc., the first female owned technology company in Athens that she started in 1997. After defeating breast cancer, she shuttered this business in 2013, and accepted an opportunity to put her entrepreneurial skills to work within the UGA community. She serves as the visionary for Franklin College Web Services Division. She collaborates across campus to develop college wide initiatives that improves the web site presences of all Departments, Centers and Institutes. Her team also manages the campus online course evaluation system. Stephanie is very engaged in the community and has served in a variety of leadership positions in many high profile nonprofit organizations and governmental authorities. She serves as the Treasurer for Athens Film Arts Institute aka Ciné. She is also the Treasurer for the new Joint Development Authority for Athens Clarke County and Winterville. This authority is responsible for distributing over 2 million dollars dedicated to emergency relief for small businesses in Athens and Winterville. Over the last decade, she has also served in leadership positions for Jeanette Rankin Women’s Scholarship program, Nuçi Space, Better Business Bureau, Athens Economic Development Foundation, Athens Cultural Affairs Commission, and, most recently, the 2020 Athens Clarke County Overview Commission. Outside of her professional obligations, she is an experienced Tango dancer, pottery designer, seamstress and genealogical researcher.

Career Goals:
Stephanie plans to enroll in the Terry College Master of Accountancy program after completing her MPA in Spring 2021. Her goal is to sit for the CPA exam in the next 6 years, and expand her small accounting practice during retirement.

Of Note

She is the proud recipient of a number of awards and nominations including three nominations for the Athena Award, 2010 Georgia Small Business Person of the Year nominee, 2009 Top 40 under 40 entrepreneurs in Athens, GA, designation, and 2010 & 2011 Bulldog 100 Fastest Growing Businesses owned by UGA Alumni. She also lead the winning team during the 2016 Lead Athens Class.
