Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Margaret Kijinski is a graduate of Oberlin College and is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Georgia. She is currently employed at DAI Global, an international development organization in the Washington, D.C. metro area. DAI’s ethos as a mission-driven, human-focused organization helped inspire Margaret to pursue her degree with SPIA, where public service is a priority. Previously, Margaret explored an additional interest of hers, public education, during two years working in Madrid, Spain. There, she taught English in a high school, an experience that was pivotal in shaping her worldview. She hopes to utilize her Spanish abilities in her future work.

Career Goals

Margaret is interested in social justice as well as the management and running of local and state governments. Post-graduation, she is hopeful for a career in the nonprofit sector, and plans to work in an organization that is on the front lines of any number of the many social issues existing in the United States. While she is interested in a wide breadth of social justice issues, she aims for her career to focus on the prison industrial complex, immigration reform, or reproductive justice. She believes earning an MPA will position her to take on this work in a strategic, well informed, and agile manner.
