Mackenzie Vaughn is a student at the University of Georgia, where he is currently in the doctoral program in Political Science with a focus on American Politics. He is an alumnus of Rhodes College, where he graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Political Science.

Mackenzie Vaughn was raised in rural Hodgenville, KY, where he learned the value of hard work on family farms and a local orchard. After moving to Franklin, TN, Mackenzie graduated from Centennial High School in 2014. He enrolled at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, where he pursued studies in political science, sociology, and anthropology. Mackenzie chose to major in political science, and his work was featured in the annual department newsletter in the summer of 2017. During his time at Rhodes, Mackenzie took an interest in activism and community organizing, working with local organizations and interning at Planned Parenthood. While at Rhodes, he qualified for and joined the national political science honors society, Pi Sigma Alpha. Mackenzie graduated Cum Laude from Rhodes College in 2018 with a BA in Political Science. He is working towards a PhD in American Politics at the University of Georgia, where he works as a graduate assistant for SPIA.

Mackenzie’s research interests include the politics of labor and class in America, inequality, capitalism, mass movements and social change, and elections.
