Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Katie Johnston is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Political Science. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and is now pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from UGA as well. Following her government affairs internship for a pharmaceutical company in the summer of 2019, and her previous volunteer experience at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Children’s Miracle Network, she has focused her interests on healthcare policy. Katie is eager to play a role in the political process of the United States, and be a voice to those wishing to make a difference.

Specialization: Healthcare Policy

Career Goals:
I hope to pursue a career in government affairs for a healthcare organization, I always enjoyed the different tactics and processes used to achieve legislative goals, especially when it comes to healthcare.

Relevant Work Experience:
In the summer of 2019, I completed a government affairs internship for BioMarin Pharmaceutical located in San Rafael, California. This role allowed me to experience the policy making process firsthand, and to expand my knowledge of insurance systems in the United States.
