Master of Public Administration (MPA)
Julia is a second-year student pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration, specializing in Public Policy and Finance and Budgeting. She is currently working as an intern in the Oconee County Finance and Budget office and serves as the Finance Officer for UGA’s ICMA chapter. During her first year of the program, Julia was a Graduate Assistant for the Carl Vinson Institute of Government where she helped publish the Georgia Municipal Benchmarking Report for FY 2018. As a graduate assistant, she gathered data from 4 major cities across Georgia and developed performance measures to benchmark the city’s performances against each other. Over the summer Julia interned at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in the Financial Management and Business Operations department (FMBO). In this role, she was responsible for awarding and processing federal government contracts, and auditing contract files to ensure GAO policies and procedures were followed. Julia holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia which she completed in 2016. While pursuing her undergraduate degree she was heavily involved in the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi, where she held several leadership positions including Vice President of Community Service and Executive Vice President. Julia was also awarded the Collegian of the Year award for the UGA chapter in 2016. Through Delta Sigma Pi she volunteered and raised money for many local and national charities including Project Safe, Ronald McDonald House, and Relay for Life. In the 2 years following graduation, Julia worked at The Home Depot corporate office as a Financial Analyst supporting the Credit Services Department. Her main responsibilities were forecasting and planning the cost of consumer credit for the company, as well as providing financial reporting and ad-hoc analysis. Julia is highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access and is proficient in SQL and Tableau analytical software.
