Jade Fortiner -

Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Jade is a student within the Master of Public Administration program specializing in Public Budgeting and Financial Management, with a certificate in Disaster Management. Prior to graduate school, Jade attended the University of Georgia and completed degrees in International Affairs and Economics, with a minor in Health Policy and Management, as well as a certificate in Global Studies. She had the opportunity to study abroad in both South Africa and Italy to study the implications of public policy. While in Athens, Jade served as the Vice President of Finance of a large organization and volunteered with various groups in and around the Athens community. A passion for service and policy analysis has propelled Jade towards obtaining her master’s degree and she hopes to one day utilize these passions in the workforce.

Education Experiences

Jade’s undergraduate studies were formative to her decision to attend graduate school. Jade had the opportunity to study abroad in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Her studies focused on South African society and the lasting impacts of the discriminatory apartheid policies. While in Stellenbosch, Jade volunteered with Vision Afrika, an educational non-profit organization. To complete her undergraduate studies, Jade spent her last semester in Verona Italy, studying post industrial democracies as well as the political and economic implications of European Union membership. To combine her passions of international affairs and economics, Jade presented a thesis focusing on a possible correlation between economic hardship and political terror.
