Master of Public Administration (MPA)
Emily Warshal is a Political Science and International Affairs Major with a Spanish Minor at the University of Georgia. She spent the last two semesters taking graduate classes on the Double Dawgs pathway. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Administration and Policy and will graduate in 2022. Emily has always been very involved in her community. In high school, Emily served as the first Student Advisory Member of the Sustainability Committee of her city. Emily is the current Chief of Staff of the Backpack Project INC., a student- run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that packs backpacks with food, clothes, and toiletries and hand-delivers them to people experiencing homelessness. During the summer of 2021, Emily served as the Education and Development Intern at The Carter Center, where she planned events for the other interns to foster a sense of community and helped with alumni relations. Emily served as an Operations Associate on the Jon Ossoff for Senate Run Off Campaign, where she was responsible for auditing interviews and helping with the vetting and training processes for the Community Mobilizer program. From May 2020 to November 2021, Emily was a Congressional Field Intern in Congresswoman Lucy McBath’s District Office. In the summer of 2019, she worked at her childhood summer camp as a Unit Head, overseeing a staff of 20 counselors throughout the summer and over 150 campers. In Athens, Emily uses her Spanish skills to volunteer with ULead and Oasis Católico Santa Rafaela. Emily plans to use the knowledge and experience that she gains in the MPA program to continue her involvement in her community in the future.
