Ben Ayres

Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Ben is a Master’s candidate in the Public Administration program, and currently serves as a Teaching Assistant in the School of Public and International Affairs.  He grew up in New Hampshire, and completed his undergraduate degree at Kalamazoo College in Michigan.  His undergraduate experience was highlighted with a 6 month study abroad program in Nairobi, Kenya, and a senior thesis focused on the potential economic impacts of the Kalamazoo Promise scholarship program within the greater Kalamazoo community.

 

Professionally, Ben served for a year as an AmeriCorps Community Navigator in the Lansing, Michigan area, and worked for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, helping to write financial reimbursement policy for Medicaid providers.  Most recently, Ben worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections on several initiatives designed to improve program services for incarcerated citizens and to reduce recidivism following release.
