The School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) at the University of Georgia (UGA) ranks among the top ten institutions worldwide for Public Administration according to the 2021 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects published by ShanghaiRanking. SPIA is ranked 6th among all institutions and 2nd among institutions within the United States.

“The ShanghaiRanking considers measures such as citation rates, publications in top journals, levels of international collaboration, and prestigious faculty awards,” SPIA Dean Matthew Auer observes. “It is gratifying to see SPIA’s Department of Public Administration and Policy consistently ranked among the top Public Administration programs in the world.”

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects contains rankings of universities in 54 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The Rankings use a range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of world universities in relevant subjects, including research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards.

Other institutional rankings place SPIA among the top programs in public administration. Earlier this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked SPIA among the top ten public affairs program. In addition to the overall rankings, SPIA ranked 3rd in the specialization field of Public Management and Leadership, 3rd in Public Finance and Budgeting, and 5th in Local Government Management.
