Congratulations to Euitaek You for being selected as Public Administration and Policy’s MPA October Student of the month!

Euitaek is a second-year MPA candidate interested in energy, climate change, and environment policy. Before he came to UGA, he worked for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in South Korea for 8 years. He assisted in resolving trade issues between Korea and the United States. He participated in the renegotiation of the Korea-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and the Korea-US steel quota negotiations. He made a great contribution to strengthening the economic alliance between Korea and the United States. He also played a key role in South Korea’s energy transition policy. He oversaw and coordinated the phase-out policy of nuclear power plants and analyzed the global energy transition policy trend. He cut red tape and was awarded the Prime Minister and Minister Commendation.

He is particularly interested in developing national strategies to achieve 2050 carbon neutrality. He plans to continue his research in the fields of energy, environment, and climate change, and plans to build up his career in international organizations such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the future.
