CITS/UGA organized two events designed to promote an effective nuclear security culture for Indonesia’s nuclear sector in April. On April 27-28, CITS held a two day workshop in partnership with Indonesia’s National Nuclear Administration (BATAN) to review lessons learned from a previous assessment of nuclear security culture at reactor facilities in Indonesia. The workshop also sought to develop plans and to provide skills training for a team that will be conducting a second self-assessment of the security culture within BATAN.
On April 29-30, CITS organized a second “train the trainer” workshop that was aimed at building a cadre of experts who can train on nuclear security culture. The workshop included trainers from CITS as well as the IAEA and BATAN’s Center for Security Culture and Assessment. The workshops were supported through generous grants from the U.S. Department of State’s Partnership for Nuclear Security.
