Pre-Occupation (Hobbies)

Alaska is full of amazing ways to fill your time! I love to hike the beautiful mountains that surround the city and enjoy the wildlife that roams through out streets. I also enjoy movies and television shows when it is too cold outside to leave my toasty apartment.

Most Memorable SPIA Class Moment?

I enjoyed every Political Science class I ever took at UGA. I will never forget though sitting in constitutional law with Dr. Maltese as he regaled us with the tale of Marbury v. Madison. Dr. Maltese went into explicit detail about the night Mr. Marbury was supposed to receive his appointment letter and the widespread disappointment when it didn’t show up.

My Top Three Career Tips
  1. Take time to understand your position and the culture of the place you are working in. Change is good but only when it is predicated on the values and mission of the place you are working in, and those take time to understand since there is a difference between what is written down and how those values and processes play out in the real world.
  2. Get as much experience as you can! Make sure you are not stretching yourself too thin, but supervisors notice employees who are always willing to take on extra assignments.
  3. Be innovative and creative in your work. Always think about how things can be improved, and stay up on the research and best practices of your field.
Favorite Athens Haunt & Getaway

I truly miss the great city of Athens and all that it has to offer. I have yet to find a college campus as stunning and historical as UGA’s. I think my favorite hangout though is the Founder’s Garden on north campus. It is the perfect hiding place from the hustle and bustle of campus!

I received a world-class collegiate experience during my time with SPIA. Every single professor was an expert in their field and showed a passion for their subjects that made SPIA very unique from the other colleges and schools at UGA in my mind. It would be hard to beat the quality of education SPIA has to offer.
