Pre-Occupation (Hobbies)

I enjoy Athens’ diverse community and selection of music and restaurant venues, and greatly appreciate the unique opportunities the University of Georgia has to offer. During my free time, I love hiking, date night with my wife, Rebecca, and playing music.

Most Memorable SPIA Class Moment?

My most memorable SPIA class moment was when Joan Prittie stumped our class after asking us to recite our favorite line of poetry. Most people drew a blank, including myself. She used poetry to illustrate the need for efficiency in good writing – especially grant writing. She also helped us see that we need to be better well rounded in life.

My Top Three Career Tips
  1. Don’t waste your energy on anxiety. Everyone around you will tempt you to. Don’t give in. Know what needs to be done and do it – let tomorrow worry for itself.
  2. Have a plan. You may not start out doing exactly what you want, but be strategic in finding a way to get there over time.
  3. Don’t be too quick to say yes to every opportunity. You will have plenty of them along the way. After all you are a Bulldawg!
Volunteer Activities / Service on Boards

I have volunteered for several nonprofit organizations recently including: Community Connection, Athens Nurses Clinic, and Habitat for Humanity. I have generally helped with marketing, branding, strategic management, and public relations.

Favorite Athens Haunt & Getaway

Highwire. Friday night jazz with my wife, friends, and a good drink – can’t beat it. I would get away to the mountains, no question. I spent many days hiking and camping on the Chattooga River Trail. The fresh air and great views helped clear my mind.

SPIA will provide a new multidimensional framework of values for the way you see life and make decisions. You will never be the same.
