Andrew Grandage

MPA Advisor

Department of Public Administration and Policy

I am a first year PhD student in the Department of Public Administration and Policy, specializing in Public Budgeting and Finance. My primary research interests focus on matters of state and local: economic development, debt and taxation. I also have broad interests in organizational theory.

I currently serve as the Academic Adviser for our MPA program. While earning my MPA at UGA, I served as a Graduate Research Assistant at The Carl Vinson Institute of Government, supporting economic development and education initiatives. Prior to returning to graduate school, I worked several years as a Financial Analyst for Harris Corporation. During my tenure at Harris, I served in a variety of Financial Planning and Analysis roles: Financial Modeling, Bid and Proposal, Performance Management, Orders-Sales-Profit Forecasting, Acquisition Integration and as a Business Area Analyst. I had the privilege of performing these duties in governmental and commercial settings, for both domestic and international operations.

  • More About

Andrew’s hometown is Vero Beach, Florida. His family moved to Florida from Pittsburgh. Andrew attended The University of Central Florida, graduating in 2008. Unsurprisingly, he is an ardent supporter of the Steelers and UCF Knights. Prior to returning to graduate school in January of 2015, Andrew worked for Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) from 2008-2014. During his tenure at Harris, he worked in a variety of Financial Planning and Analysis capacities, achieving positions of increasing responsibility. Andrew began his career as a Telecommunications Billing Analyst, progressing to a Lead Program Financial Analyst for various FAA programs. Next, he was selected to serve as a Financial Analyst for the Harris-Carefx Integration team, eager for the inherent technical and organizational challenges of an acquisition. Andrew then advanced to serve as the Business Area Analyst for the newly formed entity, which had operations in the US, UK, Canada and China. He considers his experience at Harris to be invaluable and is proud to have worked with and been mentored by “so many brilliant individuals” during his career.
