Education
  • AB, The University of Georgia 2004 Political Science
  • AB, The University of Georgia 2004 International Affairs
Pre-Occupation (Hobbies)

I enjoy skiing, hiking and traveling with my wife (’04 Alum) and son. And of course enjoy watching the Dawgs do battle in the fall.

Most Memorable SPIA Class Moment?

The actual creation of SPIA. When I was a sophomore SPIA officially opened. And because it was new there wasn’t any DC based exchange/intern programs. My guidance counselor and the administration encouraged me to attend The George Washington University’s Semester in Washington program in the summer of 2003. While there I met with American University’s program as well (Sen. Max Cleland was part of that program) and when I returned to UGA in the fall provided a full report to the administration regarding the program’s effectiveness

My Top Three Career Tips
  1. Instead of looking at the job, look at the skills it can help you build.
  2. A strong network always beats a strong resume.
  3. No matter what your resume needs to be one page. In the end, you will sell you, not the paper.
Volunteer Activities / Service on Boards

I am a Volunteer Youth Wrestling coach here in Falls Church. I’m also a frequent guest lecture at many local universities’ summer intern/mentor programs.

Favorite Athens Haunt & Getaway
  • Favorite Hangout: Wild Wing Cafe (Now Closed). Every Sunday was trivia night. And each semester had a semester long tournament with cumulative points. Our team qualified for the 6 team finals three times and finished second once.
  • Favorite Getaway: We rafted down the Broad River in the summer all the time.
Recent Honors / Awards

I was recently recognized by the American Association of Political Consultants as part of the inaugural class of “40 under 40”. Two other Dawgs were on that list as well. 1 Republican and 1 Independent.

A Quotable Quote About My Spia Experience

My professors and counselors encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself. I wouldn’t be where I am today without pushing myself then.
